True Irish Sea Moss - Purple Chondrus Crispus
At True Irish Sea Moss, we hand-harvest our wild Chondrus Crispus (Purple Irish Sea Moss) from the pristine bays of Galway, Ireland. Each batch is carefully hand-cleaned to ensure premium quality, purity, and nutrient preservation.
Be aware of fake, mass-produced sea moss often sold online. Much of the yellow-colored sea moss is artificially grown on ropes in warm waters (commonly in Jamaica).
Because it doesn’t grow naturally on ocean rocks, it lacks many of the 92 essential minerals and vitamins found in authentic Irish sea moss.
Our sea moss can be consumed daily—add it to smoothies, teas, soups, or meals for a natural source of essential minerals that support energy, immunity, and overall wellness.
It can also be applied topically as a face mask, allowing the minerals to absorb through the skin to help stimulate collagen production, strengthen the skin, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a youthful, healthy glow.
Our Purple Chondrus Crispus comes in dried, ground flakes, harvested directly from the wild Atlantic coast—never farmed. This traditional hand-harvesting method ensures you receive real, mineral-rich Irish sea moss, just as nature intended.
If you have a coffee grinder, lightly grind the flakes before use to make them a little smaller and smoother — it doesn’t need to be a fine powder, just enough so there are no noticeable bits in your gel.
To Prepare:
Mix one sachet (20g) with up to 400 ml of very hot (not boiling) water, then blend for about 30 seconds. It naturally turns into a smooth, potent gel. Once prepared, this will yield up to 400 ml of Irish Sea Moss gel.
⚠️ Do not add any sweeteners directly into the jar, as this will make the gel sticky if you plan to use it on your face.
Cleanse your face of any makeup or oils, then gently apply the sea moss to your face and around the eyes, leaving it slightly wet. Do not rub it in — simply leave it to dry naturally on your face. As it dries, you’ll feel a cooling and tightening effect, and you’ll notice your skin begin to firm and smooth as wrinkles fade.
Rinse off one layer before applying another if desired. The 92 natural minerals in our sea moss absorb through the skin, helping to support collagen production, strengthen skin elasticity, and nourish the eyes, brain, and body.
Take ½ teaspoon daily. It has no noticeable taste, so it can be consumed as is or mixed with your favorite natural sweetener, such as honey, if preferred, to enjoy the full-body benefits of sea moss.
It’s rich in iodine, which is essential for healthy hormone balance and thyroid function.
Important Notes:
Always use bottled spring water or distilled water, never tap water, to avoid fluoride and other impurities.
Prepare and store the gel in a glass or jam jar with a tight lid (avoid plastic to prevent toxins from leaching).
It will keep up to 40 days as an edible, but can be used long after as a face mask. Check the smell, just like any other vegetable.
Keep refrigerated and use as often as you like for maximum freshness and benefit.

The historical and cultural significance of Irish Sea Moss adds to its appeal in modern natural skincare.
The Rise of Natural Skincare
Natural skincare involves utilizing products made from ingredients derived from nature, such as plants, minerals, and certain animal by-products like honey and beeswax. This approach prioritizes purity and simplicity, avoiding synthetic compounds, artificial fragrances, and harsh chemicals that can irritate the skin and cause long-term damage.
Benefits of Natural Skincare:
Gentle on the Skin: Natural skincare products are typically less irritating than their synthetic counterparts. Ingredients like aloe vera, chamomile, and jojoba oil soothe and nourish the skin without causing redness or inflammation.
Fewer Allergic Reactions: With fewer synthetic additives, natural skincare products are less likely to cause allergic reactions. They are suitable for sensitive skin types that react adversely to harsh chemicals.
Rich in Nutrients: Natural ingredients are often packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids that nourish the skin from within. For instance, plant oils like rosehip and argan are rich in vitamins A and E, promoting skin health and vitality.
Eco-Friendly: Natural skincare products are often produced with sustainability in mind. They use biodegradable ingredients and eco-friendly packaging, reducing the environmental impact.
Cruelty-Free: Many natural skincare brands are committed to cruelty-free practices, ensuring their products are not tested on animals.
